How to choose recognisable cycling club jersey colours

A strong colour palette reflects the club’s identity while keeping sponsor logos and practical details readable on the road and in photos.

01

Use the existing identity

Gather the badge, historic colours and examples the club likes or dislikes. Two or three dominant shades are often enough; too many effects are hard to carry across an entire collection.

02

Look at the kit when worn

Front, back and riding position tell a different story from a flat mock-up. Test contrast for club names and sponsors at small sizes, then review the complete artwork proof.

03

Think beyond one jersey

The palette should also work on bib shorts, outerwear and any women’s or children’s versions. A light and dark alternative can help, but keep the choice understandable for members.

Your checklist before starting

  • Share the club’s existing colour references.
  • Test small-scale legibility.
  • Approve consistency across the whole collection.
